Ahead of the hearing in Supreme Court where it has to give its opinion on according Scheduled Caste status to Dalits who have converted to Islam and Christianity, the Centre on Friday appointed a three-member commission to examine the demand in its entirety, including its implication on existing Scheduled Castes.
